The Breakfast Club meets monthly and 9.00 before Shabbat morning services to discuss a range of current issues. These might be Jewish issues like ‘What does it mean to be a Jew?’ and ‘how much support should we give to Israel?’ Or they might be current political issues and how they affect Jewish people and our synagogue.
Discussion topics have included:
- Too political? What is too political to be discussed in shul?
- The Voice to Parliament
- Climate change and Tikun Olam.
- Conversion – why, who, when.
- What does it mean to live a Jewish life?
Of course ‘Breakfast Club’ means breakfast. Participants bring a breakfast dish to share and offerings range from bagels, oatmeal and fruit to cheese, muffins and biscuits.
Food and opinions – it’s a perfect match.
